We’re celebrating 5 years in the Hub.

But five years ago, Food Bank Aid looked very different.

It started during the first Covid lockdown, when our founder Naomi began collecting food from her local community for a food bank. The generosity was overwhelming. What began in Naomi’s garage soon grew into something much bigger, and Food Bank Aid was born.

In September 2021, we moved into our North Finchley home. Suddenly, we had the space to do more: more donations coming in, more food being sorted and packed, more volunteer drivers on the road and, importantly, more food banks we could support.

Five years on, our volunteer family has grown to more than 400 incredible people. We’ve celebrated them with volunteer gatherings and recognition events, while seeing members of our Food Bank Aid family recognised with awards for their contribution to the community.

And the numbers tell their own story. Today, we support more than 30 food banks across London and Hertfordshire, providing the food, toiletries and household essentials they need to support thousands of people every week.

Yet, for all the growth, one thing hasn’t changed: the Hub is still powered by people. People giving their time, donating what they can, packing boxes, driving deliveries and making sure the right things reach the right places.

Our hope is that one day food insecurity will be a thing of the past – and we can close the Hub for good.

Until then, we’ll keep filling it, packing it and sending it wherever it’s needed.
