The Food Bank Aid Family

Trustees

Naomi Russell

Founder

Motivated by Covid to collect goods from her neighbourhoods for a local food bank, Naomi was completely overwhelmed by the generosity of her local communities.

A few collections later, she was joined by Co-Founder Jo Rosenblatt, and encouraged by huge local support, Food Bank Aid was born.  Both were recently recognised at the Jewish Care Women of Distinction Awards.

Having trained in printed textile design at the Glasgow School of Art, Naomi spent her early career working in sales within the textile industry across Europe.

Whilst raising her Family, she managed a law practice before returning to sales and marketing which took her to live in Bangkok.

Drawing on her relationship building and organisational skills, Naomi has worked tirelessly to grow the Food Bank Aid family, including her network of food bank managers.

Naomi also served on the Management Board of Hampstead Garden Suburb Synagogue.

Ian Davey

Database & Fundraising Coordinator

In August 2020, after a 30 year career in market research, it was time for a change. Having started in the data processing department, programming survey scripts for studies administered to the public, and producing the data tabulations from those surveys, I progressed via different managerial roles, providing expertise, advice and operations consultancy across Kantar UK.

It was time to seek new and different opportunities. I worked on the COVID Infection study for the ONS visiting people at home to take a saliva swab and blood sample, then as an exam invigilator at QEGirls in Barnet, and a short-lived return to market research.

In April 2022 I dropped in at the Food Bank Aid hub in North Finchley, met Marcus, and asked how I could help. I am packing and sorting Tuesday mornings with Julie and the fantastic team and working part-time keeping the FBA database updated and accurate, as well as producing reports to assist with fundraising, and communications.

I moved to North London in 2017 from sunny Tooting Broadway (South London) to live with my long-term partner and her children.  I enjoy reading especially Maigret by Simenon and Maggie O’Farrell.

Richard Adler

Business Support Manager

Richard joined in October 2022 to support us in the hub and with business administration. He is an experienced entrepreneur having run his own multi award winning printing business in the City for almost 35 years.

He is passionate about working in the third sector and during the two Covid-19 lockdowns helped run the logistics of a community-based charity that cooked, packed and delivered over 160,000 meals, sandwiches and snacks to frontline doctors, nurses and ambulance staff. Richard is also a trustee and is very active in another charity that supports children and young people moving in and around the foster care system.

Outside the hub, his passion is motorcycling, and he has ridden all over the world. Richard loves spending time with his family including his pet chameleon George!
