What We Do

Who We Support

We distribute food, toiletries and household goods to 32 food banks across north London and Herts from Watford to Tottenham and everywhere in-between. We support food banks in Barnet, Brent, Camden, Enfield, Haringey, Harrow, Herts and Islington which, in turn,  help approximately 20,000 people including 5000 children every week. We are a community-led charity which supports all denominations and demographics.

Without Food Bank Aid I would not have not have been able to keep the food bank running. Every time their cars arrived it felt like Naomi had created a miracle.

FOOD POVERTY IN LONDON

It’s a perfect storm: the impact of Covid-19, inflation on the rise; increased food costs; high interest rates; increase in utility bills; long waiting times for health care – all of this means more people are facing food insecurity and are unable to make ends meet. The impact for many is acute stress; poor performance in schools and increased domestic violence.

Nationwide there are more food banks than there are branches of McDonalds with London having the highest level of food poverty in the country. According to a report from the Mayor of London, more than 2.3 million Londoners live below the poverty line and 33% of adults have skipped meals to save money so that their children can eat.

How We Work

We collect and distribute goods to local food banks

Operating as a central donation and distribution hub, we source, collect and sort donations of food, toiletries and essential household goods and distribute them to 30 food banks across North London and as far as Herts.

Food Bank Requests

Food bank managers complete a shopping list of what they need for the following week. We send these requests through social media, schools and partners to ensure we get these items. The items are then processed in our hub to ensure we are able to deliver exactly what the food bank needs.

Donations Come In

Donations are collected through schools, corporates and community partnerships. They are also dropped at one of 50+ drop off points and collected and delivered to our hub by our volunteer drivers. Financial donations are used to purchase what is needed.

Food Bank Deliveries

Donations are unpacked and sorted by our superhero volunteers. Each food bank’s bespoke order is then packed and loaded into cars and delivered directly to them.
