The countdown to Christmas isn’t the same for everyone. While some households stock up for the festive season, others run out. This December, Food Bank Aid continues to support its 33 food banks across London, providing food and household essentials to families in need. This campaign aims to ensure our food banks have the food and essential items they need in time for Christmas, so they can support local families through the toughest months of the year.
The effects of winter on Food Bank Aid and food banks
- Winter amplifies food insecurity as domestic heating costs rise and seasonal pressures increase, causing demand at food banks to surge.
- Donations often struggle to keep pace, and many food banks have to purchase stock to fill urgent gaps.
- Christmas closures at some food banks mean we need to supply additional items in advance so they have enough to support people throughout the holiday period.
- This is where Food Bank Aid’s offer is crucial – unlike many organisations in this space, we purchase and distribute exactly what food banks need, when they need it.
Thank you for helping us raise vital funds so we can get essentials to local families who need extra support this Christmas.
