What’s with the egg box request? our supporters often ask…
You will have spotted our weekly call-out on social media for egg boxes (and if you don’t already follow us, now’s the time!).
We ask for egg boxes because we buy eggs in bulk to reduce costs and need boxes so food banks can give eggs to their clients.
In 2025, we sent out approximately 261,868 eggs. That’s a lot of omelettes.
So many, in fact, that if we decided to take on the Guinness World Records champions, we’d be in with a serious chance. The current world-record omelette, cooked by Portuguese chefs in 2012, used 145,000 eggs.
With the eggs we distributed in 2025, our omelette would be almost twice the size of the Guinness World Record holder.
Rather than one enormous omelette, our eggs were packed into boxes and sent where they were needed – supporting food banks to provide fresh eggs to thousands of people.
Every donated egg box, every small action, adds up to something egg-traordinary.
