Seeing Our Impact First Hand

Our volunteers are the heart of our operation, whether they’re sorting, packing, splitting or delivering for food projects across London — but until recently, some had never seen where those deliveries ended up.

That’s why we’ve started arranging volunteer visits to the food projects we support, giving people the opportunity to meet the incredible food bank teams receiving and hear directly about the impact being made.

Kate, who recently visited My Yard, told us:

“I was bowled over by Steve and what he achieves with volunteers, helping prepare lunch and ensuring that everyone gets their chance to select from what’s on offer on Mondays. Meeting all these dedicated people gives one’s faith in humanity a considerable boost.”

Victor, who joined another delivery visit, said:

“Nice to see the smiles on volunteers’ faces when we arrived with the car-load. Clients were grateful for the variety of goods available. Everything ran smoothly with a good atmosphere.”

We’ve loved hearing how meaningful these visits are — both for volunteers and for the projects welcoming them.
