It’s World Hunger Day

Actually, it’s World Hunger Day Every Day

When the United Nations launched its Sustainable Development Goals, Goal 1 was “No Poverty” and Goal 2 was “Zero Hunger”.

At the time, many imagined those were challenges facing other parts of the world. Not communities here in the UK.

But across London, more families are struggling to afford the essentials. Parents are skipping meals so their children can eat. Food banks are seeing growing demand, year on year.

It’s thanks to you that Food Bank Aid now delivers food and household essentials to 33 different food projects across London, helping organisations – from pop-up services to fuller advisory schemes – that support people facing poverty, crisis and isolation.

Your support isn’t just for us. It’s for young people like ‘Lia’, who said:

Mum brought us here when food was running low.

Those few words tell a very big story.

This World Hunger Day, thank you for helping families access the support they need, not just today, but every day.
